Identifying Moths 1.

Things to notice and remember:
When you catch or see a moth you will automatically notice various things - it helps if you also remember them.

  • The pattern, if it is at all dramatic or just a plain colour,
       mottled or barred.
  • What shape it is - 'Concorde', long and thin,
butterfly-shaped with wings outstretched, scalloped edges
       and so on.
  • You will already know when and where you are seeing it.
So, remember these two things as part of helping you to
       identify the moth.
  • How big it is or how small.
