Amblyptilia
acanthadactyla.
(Amblyptilia acanthadactyla)
Waiting on the cover of
the moth trap.
Information:
This is one of the Plume moths which can be confused with a
somewhat similar moth that is called Amblyptilia punctidactyla,
although that is more grey.
Fore-wing length: 8-10 mm. A common species and becoming more so
through much of Great Britain. The reddish brown, dark brown and
cream patterns of this "T"-shaped moth are distinctive as are
the 'spurs' on the brown-and-cream banded legs and the fringe
visible on the trailing edge of the furled wings.
They start to fly in July and a second brood emerges and flies
in September.
