Burnished
Brass. (Diachrysia chrysitis)
It was raining and it
didn't want to leave the warmth of my hand.
Information:
Fore-wing length: 16-19mm. There are several tufts along the
back of the body and, most strikingly, a very visible bright
metallic yellow glistening patch in the upper third of the
fore-wing. A second yellow reflective area forms a bar across
and adjacent to the fringe of the outer edge. The facial area is
tufted and the overall colouring is dark brown where it is not
reflective yellow. Most distinctive.
They fly from dusk onwards during June-July in most parts of
Britain where there are deep ditches, fens, gardens, hedgerows,
marshes, outskirts of woodland and rough grass.
