Rosy
Footman.
(Miltochrista miniata)
The Rosy Footman is the
orange one hiding on the right - the one on the left is a Flame
Carpet.
Information:
I included this picture mainly to show one of the problems of
photographing moths. They do hide themselves away in corners and
then as you get them out to photograph them - they escape ! The
Flame Carpet, of course, stayed still and in plain view and
didn't try to escape when it was brought out to have its photo
taken.
Luckily, the Rosy Footman is like no other with the rosy or pink
colouring and that black wavy line - like an oscilloscope
reading and the line of dark dots or dashes near to the outer
edge.
Fore-wing length: 12-15mm - they fly June-August and can be seen
in local patches in various parts of Britain where there are
well established woodlands and old hedgerows.
