Shears.
(Hada plebeja)
Still on an egg box
inside the moth trap.
Information:
Fore-wing length: 14-17mm. The Engish name comes from the pale
shape similar to a pair of sheep shears within the dark patch on
each multi-patterned forewing. The mark is variable in size and
shape and the general colouration of the moth also varies -
there is, however, no other moth quite like it.
They are common throughout Great Britain wherever there are
herbaceious plants and the soil is light, such as many down,
heaths, sand-dunes and open woodland. They are especially
attracted to Red Valerian. They fly May-July and will visit
flowers that stay open at night.
