Information:
Fore-wing length: 14-16mm. These moths are quite distinctive and
they do not vary much & their wings are folded round the
body when at rest. With that very characteristic pose and the
dark streaking on the light tan general colour it gives the
impression of a broken and slightly splintered twig.
They have one brood and they fly June-July, typically over
downs, fens, farms, gardens, heaths and the edges of woods. They
can be found all over Great Britain but are more numerous the
further South.
