Mottled
Beauty.
(Alcis repandata)
After release from the
moth trap - on the red pavé garden path.
Information:
Fore-wing length: 19-26mm and quite similar to Willow Beauty and
Satin Beauty. Although very variable in colouring the Mottled
Beauty has a generally 'wavy' look to the dark cross-lines on
the fore-wing and a distinct dark, but blurry edged, crescent
cross-line from the leading edge. The outer edge of the
hind-wing is also 'wavy' unlike the somewhat smooth curve of the
outer edge of the fore-wing.
They fly from June-August and can be seen in almost any
location, town or country, in Britain that has bushes and
trees.
