Brown Silver-line.
(Petrophora chlorosata)

Outlined against the darkened interior of the moth trap.

Information:
Quite small with a Fore-wing length of 15-18mm the brown Silver-line is quite distinctive. Typically the forewing covers the hindwing - in this picture you can just see the trailing fringe of the hindwings peeking out. There are two silver cross lines, the forward sides of which are edged with a darker brown - the same colour as the leading edge of the forewings and shoulders.
They fly during May-June and can be seen wherever bracken grows in heathland, moorland or woodlands. Sometimes, if brushing through bracken, they can be flushed into a brief day-time flight.
