Early Grey.
(Xylocampa areola)

Two Early Grey moths on a fallen leaf

Information:
As its name implies it is grey in colour and flies any time between February and May. The oval and kidney shaped markings as well as the prominently 'hairy' legs (which are banded grey and black) are most distinctive. With a forewing length of 15-18mm it is about the size of the top joint of your middle finger.
