A Bit About Moths 2.
Why Moths?

My answer to the question "Why Moths?" is that they are
fascinating - the more you know about them the more
contradictions there are. They are all, moths (and
butterflies), little miracles.
This is their cycle of life - They:
- start off as eggs (left unattended);
- hatch into caterpillars (Larva);
- feed voraciously on a chosen type of plant
until they have fully grown;
- create a cocoon around themselves, forming
a chrysalis ready for hibernation;
- attach it to something suitable;
- some 'hibernate' as a chrysalis (Pupa), often
through incredibly hard, wet and cold
or hot & dry weather;
- break out of the chrysalis, transformed into a winged and
fully grown moth;
- some adults, like the wonderfully colourful "Herald"
hibernate over the winter period in caves;
- find a mate and start the whole process off again;
- die.
